Organizations are ramping up their 2024 summer and fall programming, so there are lots of deadlines coming up in the next couple of weeks—some very soon. I’ve gathered several here, some a review and some brand new! Below, you’ll find fifteen opportunities for visual artists.

Artist Opportunities
Munson Artist-in-Residence
Deadline: March 25
Munson's Artist-in-Residence program is an education-based residency that allows one emerging artist to live, work, and teach on the Munson and Pratt Munson College of Art & Design campus in Utica, New York, for one academic year. Programming includes presenting a public lecture, teaching community arts education classes, holding a public open studio event, and designing and implementing accessible community projects with various departments on campus. Artists receive financial support, housing, meals, studio, and an exhibition in the Museum of Art.

New York Public Library Picture Collection Artist Fellowship
Deadline: March 29
The New York Public Library invites proposals from artists resident in the U.S. for at least three years that explore the NYPL's Picture Collection. Stipends range from $2,000 to $5,000. The amount of the stipend is dependent on the justification and merit of the proposed project. Fellowships periods are determined in consultation with NYPL Picture Collection staff and can start as early as July 1, 2024.

Northern Clay Center Warren MacKenzie Advancement Award
Deadline: March 31
The WMAA, founded in 2014, provides an opportunity for students and emerging artists to continue their ceramic research and education for a period of up to twelve consecutive months within the grant year, further expanding their professional development. One cash award, up to $2,000, is made annually for travel, education, or research.

Northern Clay Center Early Career Artist Residencies
Deadline: March 31
The Early Career Artist Residency program encompasses two unique fellowships, designed to provide up to four ceramic artists with the opportunity to be in residence at Northern Clay Center for one year, where they can develop their work and exchange ideas and knowledge with other ceramic artists. The Anonymous Artist Studio Fellowship will be awarded to two early career ceramic artists working in a functional, sculptural, relational, or installation-based manner. The BIPOC Studio Fellowship will support one early career ceramic artist of color.

Waverton Art Prize
Deadline: March 31
The prize is open to artists under the age of 40 and based in the U.K. The prize is open to all 2D media, and artists at any stage of their career can apply. A headline £10,000 cash prize will be awarded to an overall winner selected by a panel of four judges. Shortlisted pieces will be exhibited in the Waverton Gallery at Boisdale Canary Wharf and featured on an online gallery, available for purchase. Artists also have the chance to win the Waverton Acquisition Award.

Mark Tanner Sculpture Award
Deadline: March 31
The Mark Tanner Sculpture Award (MTSA) is the most significant award for emerging artists working in the field of sculpture in the U.K., offering £10,000 in financial support towards the making of new work, plus a solo show at Standpoint Gallery.

Bemis Center for Contemporary Art Spring and Summer Residencies
Deadline: April 1
The Bemis residency is a process-based experience–residents have the ability to research, experiment, and explore free from expectations. U.S.-based artists-in-residence receive a $1,250 monthly stipend and an additional $750 travel stipend. Due to the limitations of B2 visas (touring/visiting), international artists-in-residence are eligible to receive reimbursement of qualified expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation, and meals.

Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program
Deadline: April 1
Whitney's tuition-free independent study program in Roy Lichtenstein's former house in Greenwich Village consists of three interrelated parts: Studio Program, Critical Studies Program, and Curatorial Program. The ISP provides a setting within which students pursuing art practice, curatorial work, art historical scholarship, and critical writing engage in ongoing discussions and debates that examine the historical, social, and intellectual conditions of artistic production. Each year fifteen students are selected to participate in the Studio Program, four in the Curatorial Program, and six in the Critical Studies Program.

Artadia Awards: New York City
Deadline: April 1
The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure, and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose. Three Awardees receive unrestricted funds of $15,000, as well as access to the Artadia Network. Awardees are determined based on the sole discretion of the jury. Marciano Artadia Awardee receives unrestricted funds of $25,000. Applications in additional program cities open on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Artshack Artist-in-Residence Open Call
Deadline: April 1
Launched in 2020, Artshack's Artist in Residence offers a three-month studio program for artists to produce work in clay. Artshack invites applications from artists at any ceramics skill level. This opportunity is open to artists who are traditionally underrepresented in the arts and to U.S.-based artists working in all mediums. Artshack will prioritize projects that are either proposed by Bedstuy natives or that are community-centered. Selected residents receive a 3 -month residency with 24/7 access to Artshack's Community-shared studio space in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, studio visits, a curated solo exhibition at Keepsake Gallery for 6 weeks, the opportunity to enroll in workshops and classes at a discounted price, and more.

Creative Capital Awards 2025 Open Call
Deadline: April 4
Creative Capital welcomes innovative and original new project proposals in visual arts, performing arts, film/moving image, technology, literature, multidisciplinary, and socially engaged forms. The Creative Capital Award provides unrestricted project grants up to $50,000, bespoke professional development services, and community-building opportunities.

Harvard Ceramics Artist-in-Residence
Deadline: April 5
The Artist in Residence Program through the Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard, offers dedicated artists the opportunity to involve themselves in research and growth, pushing their art in new directions in a dynamic, urban studio connected to the Harvard community. The selected artists receive personal studio space, 7-day studio access, free access to materials, opportunities to take classes and firing workshops within the program, aid teaching opportunities within the program for both community and academic-based classes, and more.

National Works on Paper Prize for Australian Artists
Deadline: April 5
A biennial exhibition, National Works on Paper's role is to support and promote contemporary Australian artists working on or with paper, with awards up to $60,000 in acquisitions and cash, including a $20,000 major acquisitive award.

Erin Donohue and Family Fully-Funded Ceramic Artist Residency
Deadline: April 5
At the Artists Association of Nantucket, the Erin Donohue and Family Residency supports a five-week residency for a ceramic artist to stay and teach 2 five-week classes in the fall session (starts mid-October). Artist receive a travel stipend (up to $500 reimbursement), a stipend of $1,000 to the artist at arrival, and also $1,000 at departure, an apartment fee of $375 for 5 weeks funded ($1,625), and $875 for teaching a free class.

Plum Lime Residency Spring 2024 Session
Deadline: April 7
The Plum Lime Residency will provide one artist with a large private studio in the Chelsea Gallery District of New York City for 4 weeks (May 8 - June 7, 2024) to create a new body of work, host studio visits, and take advantage of being in the heart of Chelsea! The Spring 2024 resident will also receive a studio visit from a gallerist/curator and will culminate their residency with an Open Studio event on June 8th.
