Artist Opportunities
Kunstverein Culterim Exhibition Grants
Deadline: January 15
Space grants from Kunstverein Culterim in Berlin provide support for an exhibition in any of Culterim Gallery’s spaces. Three scholarships are awarded each year and include a one-week exhibition space scholarship with 3 exhibition days, an exhibition fee of €500, curatorial support, and gallery press and documentation.

Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellowship
Deadline: January 15
The Marian Treger Fellowship for Enduring Creativity at VCCA is intended to support women artists emerging in mid-life and beyond, whose creative paths may have been detoured or hindered by chronic health conditions or disabilities. Two-week residencies are available September 1 to December 31, 2024, and artists receive a stipend of $400.

Ucross Residencies and Fellowships
Deadline: January 15
In the beautiful landscape of Wyoming, Ucross residencies provides artists with living accommodations, meals, work space, and uninterrupted time so that the artists can focus on their creative process. Two Ucross Fellowships for Native American Visual Artists are awarded each year. Those selected for the fellowship are offered a four-week residency, a stipend of $2,000, and a featured gallery exhibition at Ucross the following year. There is also a Ford Family Foundation Fellowship available for an artist from Oregon.

2024 {Re}HAPPENING Call for Proposals
Deadline: January 26
Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center announces an opportunity for artists to participate in the 2024 {Re}HAPPENING on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, North Carolina, the former Lake Eden campus of Black Mountain College. Artists are invited to propose projects that reflect the innovative spirit of BMC. Projects can be durational or scheduled and can be sited indoors or outdoors. Each selected project will receive a $500 honorarium.

Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2025
Deadline: January 26
This portrait competition is open to all media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, textiles, video, performance art, and digital or time-based art. One winner will receive $25,000 and a commission to portray a remarkable living American for the National Portrait Gallery’s collection. Other prizes range from $1,000 to $10,000, and all finalists will be included in an exhibition.

Royal Society of Portrait Painters Exhibition and Prize
Deadline: January 26
The Royal Society of Portrait Painters invites artists from all over the world to submit portraits for its Annual Exhibition in 2024. Selected artists will have their work exhibited in a prestigious showcase at Mall Galleries, London, at which a number of works will sell and a number of commissions will be placed. The total prize fund is £40,000, including The William Lock Portrait Prize (£20,000) and The Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture (£10,000). The Society welcomes paintings, drawings and original prints including digital/iPad prints from artists over 18, from the U.K. and internationally.
Submission fee: £20 per work/£14 per work for artists aged 35 or under. The entry fee includes free admission to the exhibition, normally £5
Prix Elysée 2025 International Photography Prize
Deadline: January 28
The Prix Elysée is open to mid-career photographers or artists from around the world. They must be recommended by a recognized professional in the field of photography, contemporary art, cinema, fashion, journalism, or publishing.

Society of Scottish Artists Eichstätt Lithography Residency
Deadline: January 29
This award of a two-week residency in Autumn 2024 is for a self-motivated artist who has prior experience of working in stone lithography. The applicant must include a referee to verify technical skills. Daily allowance and accommodation in St. Walburg Guest House are provided by the Lithographie-Werkstatt Eichstätt along with all studio fees. All artists working in lithography anywhere in the world are welcome, although artists do have to be a member of the Society of Scottish Artists to apply.

Green-Wood Cemetery Artist Residency
Deadline: January 31
The year-long residency provides one artist in the visual and/or performing arts with a studio space and honorarium to create a site-specific installation or performance at The Green-Wood Cemetery. The residency is open to emerging artists living and working in New York City. The selected artist will be provided a $8,000 honorarium, private studio space in the landmarked Fort Hamilton Gatehouse, and access to the Cemetery’s professional staff and archives and historical collections.
